What It Means To Be A Part Of This World But Not Of It

Questions That Women Want The Answer To In Under Five Minutes

If your a Christian, you have probably heard this phrase before “Be In The World, Not Of It”.

Not it’s not a bible verse but the Bible does say a lot about not conforming to society’s standards and instead living a life according to God’s will. And while we may think that we are doing a “good job”, we are indeed not.

Let’s take myself, for example. Even though some would call me a non-conformist who (weirdly) prays in public, I am still of this world. I buy labels and spend too much time on perfecting my appearance and not enough time on family. My Christian values are somewhat tarnished.

What’s worse,  I don’t stand up for God when it’s really important because I’m afraid of what people will think of me. I don’t try to talk to non-believers about God because hey, it’s intimidating.

As a Christian woman, I need to do better.

I don’t turn to God first in my time of need. I drink wine when stressed and maybe talk to family. I am stubborn in my ways and often times do whats convenient for me instead of what I know God wants me to do.

Honestly, there are so many things I do wrong. I am constantly battling my demonand I doubt that there will be any point in my life where I’m not. I need to take my own Christian advice.

And I call myself a follower of God.

Let’s side step for a moment. Remember the movie “Focus” starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie? One scene that resonates from the movie is when Will Smith uses his con-artist skills to manipulate a high level gambler to bet on the number 55.

If you don’t remember this scene, check it out (video below). It’s the perfect example of how human beings are easily managed and molded.

We Are All Sheep Who Have Gone Astray

God knows we are like sheep, and he sent Jesus to be our Shepard and guide us through our stupidity. Because, whether you like it or not, you are stupid as all humans are.  We all make conscience mistakes, and often.

Luckily, God loves us so much that he sent his only son to save us. If we recognize that we are sinners and believe in Jesus, he will perform miracles on us that will change our lives. Opening our hearts to Jesus is truly what it takes.

I Have Opened My Heart To Jesus

I know he’s working on me everyday, and I also know that it’s a long process because I have a lot to learn and a lot of maturing to do to prepare myself for life beyond this Earth.

So yes, Jesus can guide us but we must open his hearts to him and work on ourselves. We need to make an effort not to be influenced by the meaningless triggers of the flesh surrounding us.

It’s really hard not to be of this world when we live in it. But God asks us to try.

Please share your thoughts on this article as I am always open for thought provoking discussion.
